Title: Camera Info?
Tags:
Blog Entry: I recently purchased an Olympus FE-320 camera for general photography. Should I use it for animation? I thought it would be a great idea, but StopMotionWorks.com has some articles that say cameras don't last very long. The story says lifespans range from 100,000 to 10,000 for cheap cameras. I don't think mine is cheap (I would call it a middle-high quality point-and-shoot), but I am still concerned. I don't have a lot of money, and a camera is a pretty big expense. I calculated that if I stay below 7500 frames (less than the max of any camera I've read about), I can make 8.3 minutes of animation. This seems like enough to last until I can buy a new webcam. What do you guys think? Also, does anyone have first-hand experience with this problem? How long did you camera last? Did it break at all? Does quality gradually degrade or is it more of a sudden complete failure of the shutter? I would love any help.
