If your wondering how to get started making your own films, you really don't have to worry. There are two free animation programs you can download and use with just your web camera. If your just starting out, you can try animating toys or model kits. That's how just about every animator starts out. Of course if your experienced that idea might sound silly - so go ahead and use a puppet you made.
There are two programs that are free. The first is Anasazi. This program was writted by Penn Taylor many years ago, so for some people it won't work. It's worth trying out though as it's the most simple program to use, plus its very tiny to download.

The next program is Animator DV. It's a more robust program, and free for non-commercial use.
It is full of features, including onion skinning, chroma keying "blue screen", audioscope and frame averaging for a nicer image. There's really so much that its hard to cover it all without builing another web site. You can find this program online for free use here:
