Hello Everyone, I am John Hankins from Hawaii, USA. I am 40 years old, and a professional handyman. I have been doing stopmotion for a year now and most of them are posted here. I use mostly wire armatures but have several ball and socket ones. I use built up cushion foam and brush on latex for skins. I really like set design and prop fabrication. I animate mostly to give me an excuse to make another set. For awhile this business was all hidden and secret and it almost went extinct as the old masters got older. Finally the people involved realized that they needed to share the knowledge if this craft was to survive. So, I believe now that anything I know needs to be shared with anyone that will listen so we can continue to grow as a community and continue to keep this artform alive and well. Aloha, john (castlegardener) www.castlegardener.wordpress.com castlegardener@yahoo.com

Hello, I'm John. I should have posted here a long time ago. A year ago I got the old King Kong DVD and my first computer (yes, it's sad, but my family didn't have a computer). The special features explained animation and inspired me. I got to work shooting little films of LEGO people with the laptop's cheap integrated webcam. I later discovered Marc's sites and started to learn more. I now have a better camera and I'm beginning to work on more serious films (more than 5 seconds!!!), but I still have some trouble keeping focused. I mostly do animation when I get frustrated with the computer and other technology. It's so nice to be able to see and hold real objects after struggling with Blender or Java!
