m_) THAT certainly was, Jesse. Tantalizing Nonsense, you are getting there, which is as good as good as rabbits in autumn --just be CAREFUL! anyway nothing can remove your credibility of making that a true fact. Good job, mate.mate.
m_) My only advice would be: Don't pursuit it THAT far. Indeed, you COULD end up sounding in a so-uncommon-nonsense-kind of way.
m_) Thus any curious mind around will know exactly where you ARE. In contrast no one will EVER know who you really ARE.
m_)
m_) holy unholy suffering rats of laboratory, CasTTl is that COOL that let us waiting til the very last minute?
m_) SNAP, never felt so anxious. Come on castle, get down from that palm tree and share some coco jambo haha!!
(^ ha. and as mentioned: cast'L' ? Mr.Spess? runners up may end up getting token odd boxed leftoverts from me if anyone cares for a bickford leaf and or other trinkets.
m_) Should I RE-mind that I am not looking for any prize this month, and if such miracle happens of receiving it I would seriously donate it to whoever is after me?
When I looked at the upload options in iMovie they were too limited... I'd rather choose my own codec and size etc, then upload myself for better quality.
Nick, to embed your clip, look under the description. There's an Embed tag you just copy and paste in here. But before you do, click the little purple gear icon next to it, which opens a pane underneath that lets you choose the size you want the player to be. I think the 640x385 is probably best on this forum. Let me try it for you and see:
Ooops!! Wow, there were 3 more pages after the one I was looking at!! Lots of activity in here!! And I see Prosser already embedded your video Nick, but I'll leave this one just because I think I found the right size.
Everybody is so IMPATIENT!!! Wow ha ha!!!
Bear in mind, not only does Castleman need to wait till after midnite Hawaii time, but then he might also have some last minute entries to judge as well. At StopMoShorts we usually took a couple of days to get the videos all posted and do the judging (they all went up at once... it made for more of an event than people posting them all willy-nilly all month long).
Hey, which brings up a point.... Marc or John... is there any way somebody could gather all the videos together in one place without all the typing, so people don't have to pick their way through the entire thread finding the vids? Or do I ask too much? I figgure you never know until you ask....
I believe that in the future, Nick will be remembered as THE most important teacher of stopmotion on the newly-created venue called the internet during the 1st decade of the new millenium... and I hope to be known as one of his most successful students. One day I will reach that level of excellence... no, I will SURPASS IT!!!! Yes, because to be successful, the student must surpass the master...
Wow, that means I got my work cut out for me... and seeing as I'm nowhere near the workaholic Nick is (he might use a different term for it) AND I'm already 47 freakin' years old.... I better get my groove on!! Both Michael Jackson and Billy Mays were only 3 years older than me when they passed away... But in Jackson's case, I think the term "you gotta burn to shine" applies.... genius tends to burn itself out early in life. I think I've got more longevity in me, and I expect to keep improving stage by stage as I go.
So at the rate I'm going, I'll need to keep animating to about the age Ray Harryhausen is now...
Hah Mike don't be so hard on yourself. Although your attitude of stick-to-it-iveness is really admirable. I just got done building a little rig with my daddio and I coem back and see Nick's video embeded all over the place; not complaining it's definitely easy on the eyes.
He really is a great teacher though. He can teach you years of knowledge without even talking to you. Sometimes one feels a bit of the stalker-type though after looking at his pictures for so long. Anywhoo, thanks Nick!
I think it'd be really cool to have the videos plunkered together too!
m_) I also agree among with Strider and Tonychauzer that it would be great to have some option of finding videos more easily on a thread, or something like that..All in all we live in the future. It shouldn't be hard to afford that, right?
m_) Plus we are 3 now claiming.
m_) Strider, dont let yourself down that way. As if you had nothing to pass on.
m_) Your legacy, remember.
m_) at least in my animator journey I find you as much in level of mastery as of what you see on Nick's. And I mean it. I found you first, simple...lol this is so amusing.
m_) Anyhow, both of you are top masters. It's like comparing Plato, Socrates and Aristotles. Who was the best of them ALL?
m_) "mirror mirror whose the maddest of them ALL?" hehehe. Well..let us find out through the glassy glossy glass.
m_) My personal opinion: One was the legend, one wrote it, the last one lived it and had so much more than just a LEGEND to tell write and read.
Wow, that was quick John!! Heh... now I need to start watching them all..
Thanks Tony and Dan!! Get this though... most of the stuff I pass on to people.. I learned originally from guess who? Well, and a few other guys on the SMS board, but Nick probably 75 to 80 % of it. Of course, Marc is a great teacher too... but he specializes more in clay, and all I've got by him is his Secrets Revealed ebook. (The new revision is incredible by the way Marc!!).
I'm more like a young Plato, still sitting at Socrates' knee (did I get that write rite right? Was Plato the student of Socrates?)... I have a goodly ways to go before I start nipping at Nick's heels. And my style is so different, I suppose there's no surpassing... it's apples and guava fruit. I'll be happy if one day my work shows the level of professionalism his does.
Hey think about this guys... one day we'll all be kick-ass animators, some of us pros working on the next Coraline, some cranking out our own indie flicks... and we can all look back at the days when we labored to post our little clips on the StopMoMagic contests!
