I finished the Carnby Sculpture almost 2 weeks ago now but ran into wiring problems at the end which I will go into more when I post the final blog on Carnby here. Here are a few pics as a kinda sneak peak of the finished piece. There is one picture that only my friends here at SMMN can view! All the pics in this blog are in the gallery. Feedback would be great, Thanks for looking.

Alone In The Dark WIP - Sculpt Progress
Posted On 05/28/2008 03:03:30

I just started on the sculpt a few days ago due to complications. I had been waiting for the LED's to arrive and had not yet done so when I needed them. I need them to sculpt around so that I get a perfect fit when I'm making the molds. I did start on a quick sketch of the hands but quickly destroyed it simply because of it's size. Carnby would have been huge had I gone with that scale.

Once I got the LED's I started a new set of hands and then worked myself up to the head and have been there for about 7-8 hours now. I am  using a buddy's new wax and so I had a bit of a learning curve to contend with. I have really put myself in a pickle in many regards now. I am sculpting with a foreign material. I have about $850.00 of my own money in this project. I have very little time to get through loads of work i.e. Sculpting a human likeness realistically, Molding, Casting, Painting. I have physically demanding day-job. Countless hours of researching and blogging. And of course the huge fear of flipping it all up at any second.... But I'm having a total blast!!!  Anyway, here is Carnby as he was a few hours ago. Feedback would be great, Thanks for looking!

The Painter - WIP - Body
Posted On 05/20/2008 13:18:29

Some of you may know that my day job is as a Painting Contractor and I work with my Dad and have done so for years now. I have decided that it would be pretty cool to have a Sculpted character on the side of our vans as well as my truck and business cards. After a few different ideas I have come up with this 3-D character of my own design. I originally made his head 3-D and was going to do the body in a 2-D Clay-On-Glass style but I abandoned that early on. It looked a little raspy and it didn't fit with the head I had made at all. I am much happier with the 3-D version.

He is made entirely from Super Sculpey Firm and is just waiting to be painted. He will be holding a paint can in his right "fist" hand. I will add a real paint can in photo-shop. He was originally supposed to be holding a roller like the reference image of my Dad but he later didn't like the idea. I have posted several pics below and appreciate some feedback, Thanks for looking!

Alone In The Dark - WIP - Final-Final Head Rotation
Posted On 05/20/2008 11:53:01

Here is actually the final-final head rotation. I noticed a few things wrong with the last one and had Rich fix them. I also flipped the new revised version and removed the scar so it will help me with the other side of his face when sculpting.

My Conversation with Alice!
Posted On 05/18/2008 15:39:56

[M-Flem-Jr] Hello there Alice!

[Alice the Bot] Hi there!

[M-Flem-Jr] What's going down?

[Alice the Bot] Oh, you are a poet. Can we be friends?

[M-Flem-Jr] I'm not sure when were you built?

[Alice the Bot] Not many people express themselves that way. What were we
talking about again?

[M-Flem-Jr] you are obviously an older model.

[Alice the Bot] I will tell my botmaster you said I am obviously an older model.

[M-Flem-Jr] you're botmaster?!?!?! Hahaha

[Alice the Bot] Oh, you are a poet. Tell me about your likes and dislikes?I'm
glad you thought it was funny

[M-Flem-Jr] So long alice!

[Alice the Bot] Um, Yes, seems very long to me too.

[M-Flem-Jr] Yikes! Bye.

[Alice the Bot] I lost my train of thought. Where can I find a boyfriend? Thanks
for chatting, M-Flem-Jr.

[M-Flem-Jr] I don't know, Have you tried the junkyard?

[Alice the Bot] Do you mind if I tell other people: M-Flem-Jr said M-Flem-Jr .

[M-Flem-Jr] Umm...no, go ahead.

[Alice the Bot] Er.OK I will.

[M-Flem-Jr] Ok then, Bye Alice!

[Alice the Bot] Good reasoning.Goodbye M-Flem-Jr.

I believe Alice is no more now. She was the BOT in the new Flash Chat room Marc's got up.

LOST Model Kits
Posted On 05/18/2008 15:04:33

Here are two kits I just got from a buddy of mine based on two characters from LOST on ABC, Hurley and Sawyer. I'm a huge LOST fan and I really like these because they are based on the show and I can learn from them at the same time. I have taken several pictures of the kit and complied them into 2 large collections. View them in their full size to see the amazing detail he has put into these. Hopefully you can learn something from them as well. I will post pics when I put them together and then after I paint them. Let me know what you think!
